Old Orchard Elementary student has knife taken away

An Old Orchard Elementary School student brought a knife to school Wednesday morning, authorities said.

The boy, who’s name and age weren’t immediately available, apparently had what was described as a small kitchen paring knife in his book-bag.

Another student told a teacher that the boy had a knife and when the teacher questioned the student, he said he did and gave it to the teacher, authorities said.

Nobody was hurt and the school took appropriate action to contact Toledo police, who are handling the incident, Toledo Public Schools spokesman Patty Mazur said.
