Electric version of Mini planned for next year

BIRMINGHAM, Mich. — BMW AG plans to have electric versions of its Mini brand cars on U.S. roads by next summer, Jim McDowell, vice president of Mini USA said yesterday.

He said the company is deciding whether to lease or sell the vehicles and where they’ll be available. He wouldn’t say how far the electric car will be able to go on a charge.
