Columbia Gas offers advice for keeping heat on

With the weather turning cold, Columbia Gas of Ohio is offering advice for customers whose gas service has been shut off or who are facing shutoff.

They can obtain a reconnect order by calling the Public Utilities Commission of Ohio at 1-800-686-7826 or visiting www.PUCO.ohio.gov. The order requires resumption or continuation of service for a payment of $175 plus a fee for reconnection.

Low-income customers who cannot afford the $175 payment can seek assistance through Ohio’s Emergency Energy Assistance Program; information is available at the Ohio Department of Development, 1-800-282-0880. Also, customers can arrange payment plans with Columbia Gas at 1-800-344-4077.
