Valentine show features music of Elton John, Billy Joel

The Music of Elton John & Billy Joel will be performed by Jim Witter in a Piano Men II show at 8 p.m. tomorrow in the Valentine Theatre, 400 North Superior St. Witter performs keyboard and lead vocals with his band, taking the audience on a journey through the '70s and '80s, as well as performing new songs from Billy Joel and Elton John. Tickets range from $33 to $45 from the box office, 419-242-2787.

A Celebration of Jimmy Cook's Life will be held from 3 to 6 p.m. Sunday in South Briar Restaurant, 5147 Main St., Sylvania. The event includes live music, munchies, and a cash bar. Proceeds will go to Cook's scholarship fund for young jazz musicians at the University of Toledo. Admission is $10 at the door. Reservations: 419-517-1111.

Perrysburg celebrates the First Friday of the Month from 5 to 8 p.m. tomorrow on Louisiana Avenue in the historic downtown area. The First Friday of Month runs May through October, where visitors can stroll the downtown area "Where the Avenue meets the River" and enjoy live music, carriage rides, and art exhibits.

Planned Pethood Inc. will host Paw Hoorah!, a celebration of saving the dogs and cats of our community, at 7 p.m. Saturday at Toledo Country Club, 3949 River Rd. The fund-raiser includes gourmet grazing stations, live and silent auctions, and a cash bar. Tickets are $60 from 419-382-3416.

Colin Mochrie and Brad Sherwood, stars of the Emmy-nominated Whose Line Is It Anyway? TV show, present an evening of improvisational comedy at 7:30 p.m. tomorrow in the Niswonger Performing Arts Center of Northwest Ohio, 10700 State Rt. 118 South, Van Wert, Ohio. Tickets range from $25 to $45 from the box office, 419-238-6722. Remaining tickets will be available at the door, one hour prior to curtain time.

Central Catholic High School students, parents, alumni, and members of the community are sponsoring a benefit concert for the Brian Clark family of South Toledo featuring Grammy-nominated Christian rock band Sanctus Real at 7:30 p.m. tomorrow at the school, 2550 Cherry St. Local bands The Light Ahead, made up of students from St. John's Jesuit and Toledo Christian schools, and 1 of Radio, a group of Central Catholic alumni, will open the show. Food and raffles will also be available at the event. Doors open at 5 p.m. Tickets are $10 from the schools, Reger's Church Supplies, and at the door.

Clark, a teacher at Central Catholic for 28 years, was one of five finalists for ABC's Extreme Makeover Home Edition building project in Toledo last fall. The Clarks have four adopted children and have fostered more than 80 children, most with special needs.
