Motorcylist injured in crash

SANDUSKY - A motorcyclist was injured in a crash early Saturday on Maple Avenue north of State Route 101 in Margaretta Township, Erie County.

Edward R. Hallier, 44, of 5820 Tiffin Ave., Castalia, Ohio, was in fair condition after the crash in St. Vincent Mercy Medical Center in Toledo where he was flown from Bellevue Hospital, according to the Sandusky Post of the Ohio Highway Patrol.

Troopers said they learned at 1:44 a.m. that an injured man was dropped off at Bellevue Hospital by family members. Investigators later found the damaged motorcycle in the garage of Mr. Hallier’s residence. Family members said they did not know where the crash occurred.

Troopers found debris on Maple and determined that Mr. Hallier had driven off the roadway and overturned. Mr. Hallier, who was not wearing a helmet, suffered serious head injuries as a result of the crash, troopers said.
