The Mud Hens will lose a total of six players when the Tigers expand their roster on Tuesday, the first day major league clubs are allowed to do so. The moves were announced Monday by Detroit manager Jim Leyland.
RHP Jeremy Bonderman will end his rehabilitation stint with the Hens and report to the Tigers. Detroit also will call up OF Wilkin Ramirez, SS Brent Dlugach, C Dusty Ryan and RHPs Eddie Bonine and Casey Fien. Dlugach was the only player not on the 40-man roster; to make room for him, the Tigers placed IF Michael Hollimon on the 60-day DL.
Leyland did not rule out further promotions, but did not release any names. No other call-ups are expected to happen until the Mud Hens' season ends with a game at Columbus on Labor Day.
Detroit also announced that RHP Armando Galarraga, who was placed on the disabled list last week, will make a rehab start for Toledo on Friday when the Hens host Columbus at Fifth Third Field. Permanent Link
