SANDUSKY — For the 12th consecutive year, Cedar Point in Sandusky has been named the best amusement park in the world by Amusement Today, an industry magazine based in Arlington, Texas.

Cedar Point, which is the flagship park of amusement and water park chain Cedar Fair LP, was announced Thursday as the winner of the magazine's prestigious award for Best Amusement Park during ceremonies held at the Legoland theme park in Carlsbad, Calif.

Cedar Fair's Kings Island amusement park near Cincinnati received an award for Best Kid's Area, the ninth consecutive year the park has won that award. Also, Cedar Fair's Worlds of Fun amusement park in Kansas City, Mo., received the Best New Ride of 2009 for its new roller coaster, the Prowler.
