Convicted principal resigns in Perrysburg

The resignation of former Perrysburg Junior High School principal Patrick Calvin was accepted by the school board Monday night, nearly a month after he was convicted of a misdemeanor charge of unauthorized use of property.

Mr. Calvin submitted his resignation in writing Monday afternoon, District Treasurer Matt Feasel said. The school board voted last night on a resolution to accept the resignation.

The school board suspended Mr. Calvin without pay last August after accusations that he had misused gift cards and cash belonging to the school system - leaving more than $2,000 of district money unaccounted for.

In December, he was indicted by a Wood County grand jury on a felony charge of theft in office.

The resignation was part of a plea deal with prosecutors to drop the felony charge to a misdemeanor last month.

Mr. Calvin will be on unsupervised probation for one year as well as required to pay a $250 fine to the court and $2,235.30 in restitution to the Perrysburg school district.
