Five Toledo-area non-profit organizations are to receive grants totalling $90,292 that the Toledo Community Foundation board of trustees
awarded from its Community Funds.
The largest grant, $43,702, went to the University of Toledo Foundation to support an expansion of Project Succeed, a program of the Catharine S. Eberly Center for Women.
A $21,000 grant went to Mercy College of Northwest Ohio for the Building Roads to a Future in Healthcare project, a collaborative effort between Mercy and the Polly Fox Academy to provide health-care career education.
The Toledo Zoological Society will receive $12,090 to support its preschool and summer-camp programs.
The Toledo School for the Arts will receive $10,000 toward the start-up costs of its Artists Guild Program, which offers visual-arts
students opportunities to create artworks for local sale.
And a $3,500 grant goes to the Foundation Center, which maintains information about foundations and corporate grant-making, the grant-seeking process, and nonprofit management.Grants from the foundation's Community Funds are awarded three times annually, and only to nonprofit charitable organizations. The proposal deadline for the next round of grants is Jan. 15.
