SPORTLIGHT Oct. 12 2007–Philadelphia forward Jesse Boulerice is suspended 25 games by the NHL for striking Vancouver’s Ryan Kesler across the face with his stick, the longest single-season ban in league history. Boulerice’s hit came late in Philadelphia’s 8-2 win over Vancouver on Oct. 10. 2008–Arizona becomes the first team in NFL history to block a punt to score the winning TD in overtime in their 30-24 win over Dallas. 2008–For the first time since 1970, the winning points are scored in the final 10 seconds of the fourth quarter in four games in a single NFL weekend. Josh Brown kicks a 49-yard field goal on the last play of the game as previously winless St. Louis beats Washington 19-17. Jason Elam makes a 48-yard field goal on the final play as the Falcons beat the Bears 22-20.
