Spooky party helps a charity

The Arthritis Foundation "Bare Bones" party Saturday at Heatherdowns Country Club reaped plenty of fun.

About 120 costumed supporters entered into a twilight zone of creepy decor that was spooktacular, thanks to the creativity of Ronnie and John Galatocky and their team. Food and beverages fueled roamers for shopping the silent auction of gift baskets. Fortune teller Audrey Stone gave folks a peek at their future. Winners of the costume contest were Fred and Wilma Flintstone, aka Brian and Debbie Towns. Chairman Carol Ulrich, there with hubby Kirk, expects the event to raise about $8,800.

IMAGINE Our Future in the Hilton Garden Inn at Levis Commons on Friday was a benefit for a new neurological wellness center in Toledo. Nearly 120 supporters ate and shopped the silent and live auctions. Emcee Keith Hodkinson of WBVI-FM in Findlay kept the evening on target. Dr. Lawrence Elmer, professor of neurology and director of the University of Toledo Medical Center's Parkinson Clinic, talked about the plans for the new center. The gala, hosted by the Parkinson Foundation of Northwest Ohio, is expected to net about $150,000 according to event chairman Barbara Harris.
