ProMedica hospitals to impose temporary visitation restrictions

Beginning Thursday, children 17 and younger as well as individuals who have flu-like symptoms will not be permitted to come to ProMedica Health Systems hospitals and long-term care facilities except for medical treatment, officials said Wednesday.
Because of the increasing number of flu cases in northwest Ohio and southeast Michigan, ProMedica decided to impose the temporary visitation restrictions. Officials hope the restrictions will help prevent the spread of the flu.
"Flu-like symptoms" include a fever of 100 degrees or greater with a cough or sore throat.
The affected hospitals are: Toledo Hospital, Toledo Children's Hospital, Bay Park Community Hospital in Oregon, Bixby Medical Center in Adrian, Defiance Regional Medical Center in Defiance, Flower Hospital in Sylvania, and Herrick Medical Center in Tecumseh.
Long-term care facilities affected by the visitor restrictions are: Lake Park and the Goerlich Center, both in Sylvania; Charlotte Stephenson Manor and Provincial House, both in Adrian; Herrick Manor in Tecumseh, and the Transitional Care Unit at the Toledo Hospital.
