Dundee schools shut over student absences
DUNDEE, Mich. - Dundee Community Schools will be closed today after about 15 percent of the students in the Monroe County school district became ill Tuesday with flulike symptoms, school officials said.
The school district, which is scheduled to be closed Thursday and Friday for staff in-service days, will reopen for classes on Monday.
Superintendent Bruce Nelson said the board of education established the policy that the 1,650-student district would close if the absenteeism reached 15 percent.
