Woodward student, 14, injured after running into school bus

A 14-year-old Woodward High School student was injured when he was struck by a school bus Thursday morning at Lagrange Street and East Central Avenue in North Toledo, authorities said.

Keion Johnson was taken to Mercy St. Vincent Medical Center with unknown injuries, Toledo police said.

The boy was running in a crosswalk across Lagrange about 8:10 a.m. when he was struck by a Toledo Public Schools bus, which was turning from eastbound Central onto northbound Lagrange.

Travis Grant, the bus driver, told police that the boy did not look in his direction before running into a side of the bus, Officer Steve Skeels said.

Mr. Grant was cited for failure to pay attention while operating a vehicle, Officer Skeels said. Mr. Grant has been a TPS bus driver for five years, according to TPS records.
