Michigan suffers 38-36 loss to Purdue

ANN ARBOR --- A failed point after attempt by Jason Olesnavage in the third quarter came back to haunt University of Michigan Saturday in a 38-36 home loss to Purdue.
The Wolverines scored with 2:10 remaining on a 1-yard run by Brandon Minor, and because of Olesnavage's earlier miscue, were forced into attempting a two-point conversion down 38-36. It didn't work out as Ryan Kerrigan sacked Tate Forcier on the conversion. UM then failed to recover an onside kick. It eventually got the ball back at its own 10-yard line with 29 seconds left but ran out of time.
UM (5-5, 1-5) has now squandered three chances to achieve bowl eligibility.
The Boilermakers (4-6, 3-3) scored 21 points in the third quarter, including back-to-back touchdowns bridged by a successful onside kick. UM, which led 24-10 at halftime, has been outscored 75-12 in the second half over the past three weeks.
Minor played significantly for the first time in a month and notched three rushing downs, including one of 29 yards and another of 55 yards. Purdue quarterback Joey Elliott threw for 362 yards and two touchdowns. He was intercepted twice.
