2 field fires doused in Sandusky County; no one hurt

HELENA, Ohio - Four fire departments responded Saturday to a maize blaze in a field at State Rt. 6 and Washington Township Rd. 74.

Fire in the field of standing corn was reported about 1 p.m., and firefighters from Helena, assisted by Kansas, Gibsonburg, and Lindsey fire departments, remained on the scene until about 3:40 p.m. A house is nearby the cornfield, and that caused concerns about flames spreading to the structure, according to the sheriff's office.

Also yesterday, Bettsville and Ballville fire departments battled a field fire at Sandusky County Rd. 13 and Jackson Township Rd. 100, the sheriff's office said.

No injuries were reported, according to the sheriff's office.
