Toledoan dragged, struck by car dies
Coroner's office calls case homicide

A Toledo man who was dragged 18 feet by a car on Nov. 1 and then struck head on by the same vehicle died over the weekend.

Steven Jagodzinski, 25, of 1232 Colburn St., never regained consciousness after being admitted to Mercy St. Vincent Medical Center in Toledo in critical condition at
2:22 a.m. Nov. 1. He died at 3:21 a.m. Saturday, according to Dr. Diane Barnett, a deputy Lucas County coroner.

His death will be investigated as a homicide because his attackers used the automobile as a weapon, she said. An autopsy to determine the cause of his death has been scheduled for today. He was believed to have suffered massive head injuries, Dr. Barnett said.

The attack occurred at 23720 Lime City Road, in Perrysburg Estates, a Perrysburg Township mobile home park. After being dragged 18 feet, Mr. Jagodzinski's body was thrown another 25 to 30 feet from the head-on impact from the vehicle, Dr. Barnettt said.

Authorities believe the car turned around and was used to ram him intentionally, she said.

"This is a homicide. When a car deliberately runs you over, that's a homicide," Dr. Barnett said.

Perrysburg Township detectives could not be reached last night.

The vehicle's driver, Dominic Dilucia, 18, of Rossford, and passenger Gage Lee, 18, of Northwood, remained in the Wood County jail last night on charges of felonious assault and complicity to felonious assault, respectively. Both also are charged with weapons violations.

Prosecutors are expected to decide today whether to seek homicide charges from a grand jury, a jail spokesman said.

Mr. Jagodzinski was visiting fam-ily when he noticed people near his car about 1:40 a.m. on Nov. 1.

He went outside and got into a quarrel. He became wedged between the open rear passenger door of Mr. Dilucia's vehicle and the side of the car, according to an earlier interview with Detective Todd Curtis.

As the car backed up, the victim rolled away, and he was getting onto his feet when the suspect drove forward and struck him, Detective Curtis has said.

Two others in the car were questioned and released, he said.
