Police arrest Fremont man, name him as suspect in shooting of Clyde man
FREMONT — A 51-year-old Fremont man was arrested for carrying a concealed loaded gun and then was named as a suspect in the Friday shooting of a 52-year-old Clyde, Ohio, man, Fremont police said.
The Fremont man, who was charged with carrying a concealed weapon, is being held in the Sandusky County jail pending arraignment. Additional charges against him are pending, police said.
Carlos Popoca, the victim, was flown to the University of Toledo Medical Center, the former Medical College of Ohio Hospital, Toledo, with life-threatening injuries, Clyde police said.
He was shot in the neck about 3:50 p.m. at Shady Acres Trailer Park, 1015 North main St. in Clyde. Witnesses described the gunman and his vehicle to authorities, Clyde police said.
A hospital spokesman said Saturday she had no information about a person by that name.
