Driver, 82, killed in cemetery crash
LEIPSIC, Ohio - An 82-year-old Leipsic woman died after the car she was driving went off the road and struck headstones in a cemetery near this Putnam County community, the Ohio Highway Patrol said.
Carolyn Christman was westbound on State Rt. 613 in Van Buren Township about 1:15 p.m. Monday when she drove off the north side of the road. The car struck three grave markers at the Sugar Ridge Cemetery and overturned, coming to rest on its top, troopers at the patrol's Lima post said.
She was flown to St. Rita's Medical Center in Lima, where she was pronounced dead at 2:38 p.m. Monday, according to a hospital spokesman.
The crash remains under investigation, troopers said.
