Sunoco fined $32,250 for refinery violations

Sunoco Inc. has agreed to pay a $32,250 civil fine to the Ohio Environmental Protection Agency for deficiencies found at its Toledo Refinery during inspections in April, 2008.

EPA officials said the facility had four violations during the inspection, including failing to correct deficiencies in several pieces of equipment before further use and failing to address several recommendations in the process hazard analysis.

Part of the fine, $6,450, will go to the agency’s Clean Diesel School Bus Program, with the rest directed to the EPA’s risk management plan fund.
