Free parking, rail plaza proposed for King honors
Mayor Jack Ford yesterday announced that he would seek two pieces of legislation from Toledo City Council to honor Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.
The mayor wants to make the annual Martin Luther King, Jr., holiday a free parking day in Toledo. It is the only city-recognized holiday without the free parking designation.
Mayor Ford also plans to ask council to give Central Union Plaza a new name: Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., Court.
The street leads to the former Central Union Plaza train station, which was named in honor of Dr. King last year.
