Alaska Governor Sarah Palin will resign

Sarah Palin said Friday she will resign this month as governor of Alaska. "I’m not seeking re-election," Palin told a news conference at which she said she would transfer authority to Lieutenant Governor Sean Parnell.

Ottawa Hills officer indicted for shooting of motorcyclist
An Ottawa Hills police officer involved in the shooting of a motorcyclist during a May 23 traffic stop in the village was indicted by a Lucas County grand jury Thursday. Officer Thomas Caine White, 27, is charged with one count of felonious assault with a gun specification for the shooting of Michael McCloskey, 25, after he stopped the Maumee man for speeding.

Toledoans hoping to fly nonstop to Newark for nine bucks may be out of luck this summer. JetAmerica, which swept the nation by offering $9 nonstop fares from cities in Ohio, Michigan, Florida, and Indiana to New Jersey, told customers in an e-mail yesterday that its first flight would be delayed until Aug. 14. That flight was scheduled for July 13.
