The Jamie Farr Owens Corning Classic presented by Kroger is this week at Highland Meadows Golf Club in Sylvania, so that's where you will find me. It's a great place to watch golf and get some exercise walking the beautiful course.

On the Town: Summer fun blossoms across Toledo region
SUMMER is here, and what a better place to spend time than outdoors in gardens. THE 44th Annual Crosby Festival of the Arts at Toledo Botanical Gardens was Saturday and yesterday, but those in the know attended the preview party Friday night to get first dibs on the art for sale.

Belmont Country Club was the setting for the Perrysburg Rotary Foundation's Charter Night 2009. The Friday event featured a delightful dinner and program where Jeff Normand performed his last official duties as president before turning the gavel over to Ken Robinson.

Roaring with fun was the 22nd annual ZOOtoDo “White Night” presented by National City Bank, now a part of PNC, Friday night. The theme was based on the three white lion brothers, Wisdom, Legend, and Courage for the Celebrate in Style: A Toledo Formal Attire Affair.

THE Boule annual Soul Food Dinner sponsored by Church's Chicken was so much fun they might not be able to wait until next year for another one. Members from Toledo and Ann Arbor gathered in the home of Paul Hubbard, Sr., last month and there's still chatter about the event.

Around the Town: Auxiliary's benefit collects food for pets
Getting June off to a great start, salty dogs will be cruising the lake Friday night to Put-in-Bay for the annual Mills Trophy Race. The annual preparty is Thursday night at Toledo Yacht Club. The public is invited to the event, which will include music by the Menus.

ATT: A fun race for literacy
The third annual Race For Literacy on the streets of downtown Toledo and the East Side was a real hoot for participants and observers Saturday. The road rally had 18 teams scurrying to find 11 clues to the final destination, Tony Packo's on Front Street. Before they left the starting point at Owens Community College, teams decorated their vehicles.

OTT: Off to the races
The 135th Run for the Roses at Churchill Downs is a little more than 300 miles away from the Toledo area, but fans didn’t have to be in Lousiville to celebrate the Kentucky Derby. On Saturday, folks in hats sipped mint juleps and indulged in other southern traditions tied to the two-minute horse race. But of course, other events made the local society scene hot to trot.

But some of those who don’t have the heart for arias went wild at a wild game dinner or tasted the love at a local club’s first Valentine’s Day dinner.
