Across America, home cooks are planning their Thanksgiving Day menus with their traditional dishes, many of which reflect each family's ethnic heritage as well as the region in America where they live. Foods range from cranberries, oysters, and seafood to seasonal vegetables such as pumpkin and squash.

For those who just want to try something new for Thanksgiving dinner, it could be an adventure. At my home, we've cooked whole chickens or turkey breasts on our grill but have never cooked a whole turkey.

Toledo area festival's contest entries are winners
