Motorcycle owners in Toledo stand much less chance of being in a crash or the victim of a motorcycle thief than the average motorcyclist nationally, according to a study by the Progressive Group of Insurance Companies.

In the study of 89 metropolitan areas with populations of 500,000 or more, Toledo, 61st largest in the sample, ranked 86th in accident frequency and 67th in theft frequency.

The most crash-prone metro area is New York City, at about 1.7 times national average, the Mayfield Village, Ohio insurance firm found. The greatest chance of theft is in Honolulu, about four times national average.
