More than a dozen people picketed in downtown Toledo yesterday and presented signed postcards supporting pending federal legislation that would make it easier for unions to be established in workplaces. The event was in front of a building with the local office of U.S. Sen. George Voinovich (R., Ohio). The bill, called the Employee Free Choice measure, would allow a union to be certified to represent employees if a majority signed authorization cards. Today, an employee election typically is required.
