UAW sends strike notice to Fiat Chrysler
As many as 40,000 Fiat Chrysler Automobiles employees could go on strike as early as the end of today after the United Auto Workers notified the automaker that it intends to pull the plug on a temporary contract extension that’s been in place since mid-September. The notice, sent to FCA leadership on Tuesday, doesn’t guarantee there will be a strike, but significantly raises the stakes in what has been an unpredictable round of national labor contract negotiations. The prospect of a strike turns up the pressure on the company to give more toward a new tentative agreement.
