Toledo Gearmotor, a longtime Sylvania manufacturing firm, has been acquired by Bluffton Motor Works of Bluffton, Ind.

Terms of the deal were not made public.

Toledo Gearmotor, which has 19 employees, has been engineering, manufacturing, and repairing gear reducers and motors since 1948. Its facilities are on Roan Road, between Monroe Street and Alexis Road.

Bluffton Motor Works, formerly a division of Franklin Electric, has been making fractional motors since 1952.

"We are very pleased with the immediate synergies between the two companies," said David Nussear, president of Bluffton Motor Works, noting that many parts that had been outsourced can be produced by Toledo Gearmotor.
