Glass maker Owens-Illinois Inc. said Thursday that it has laid off 25 workers at its Perrysburg headquarters campus in an effort to reduce costs.

The layoffs, which took place Wednesday, involve employees in the company’s engineering operations and in various administrative positions. A company spokesman said the job cuts were the result of the company’s ongoing evaluation of its operations and efforts to identify areas where it can reallocate and conserve resources or eliminate job positions.

O-I said it also eliminated other positions throughout its North American operations, and it made leadership changes at some of its other global operations.

Last December the company laid off 30 employees in Perrysburg after a similar evaluation of its operations and determinations of where costs could be reduced.
