The Blissfield Downtown Development Authority/Main Street Program will accept, starting Jan. 1, applications for the next round of facade grants.

The application deadline is March 1, after which the program’s design committee will review applications and recommend recipients. They will be notified by mid-April.

Applicants must own a commercial building within the development district and be able to match at least 50 percent of the cost of improving the facade. The grant will pay for the other 50 percent, up to a maximum of $15,000, disbursed at a maximum of $5,000 a year over three years.

The program has been responsible for almost $500,000 worth of facade improvements in downtown Blissfield. About $210,000 of that was distributed from the DDA/Main Street Program and state of Michigan for the upgrades.
