Foundation donates $8,000 to nonprofits

Two local nonprofit organizations have received a total of $8,000 from the Darden Foundation, the charitable arm of Darden Restaurants Inc.

The Boys and Girls Clubs of Toledo received $6,000 from Red Lobster, Olive Garden, and LongHorn Steakhouse restaurants in Toledo and Maumee. The City Mission of Findlay received $2,000 from Red Lobster and Olive Garden restaurants there.

The Darden Foundation said its Restaurant Community Grants program allows each restaurant in the chain to help award a $1,000 grant to support local community programs.
