The Kroger Co. announced today that it plans to build a new Kroger Marketplace store at the corner of Airport Highway and Holloway Road in Holland, and close two nearby existing Kroger stores sometime in the fall of 2014.

The Cincinnati-based chain said it recently purchased the site where a former Farmer Jack’s store is located in the Orchard Centre shopping complex, and plans to tear down the store and begin construction this summer on a new 124,000-square-foot store.

When the new store eventually opens, Kroger will close its nearby stores at 1414 Spring Meadows Dr., in the Spring Meadows Shopping Center, and at 850 S. McCord Rd., and transfer the combined 190 employees from the closed stores to the new store or other area Kroger locations.
