A Toledo software development company working to adapt new uses for push notifications on mobile phones has received $350,000 from local investors, led by the Rocket Venture Fund.

Push notifications traditionally are messages mobile phone users get that direct them back to an application they have installed. Notice Software, which was started in 2009, has developed software to use push notifications as a way to direct mobile phone users to Web sites.

Company officials said the new way to use push notifications can be beneficial for online retailers and other businesses.
