Hispanic-owned firms in U.S. increasing fast

NEW YORK — The number of Hispanic-owned businesses in the United States is expected to nearly double from 2002.

That’s the finding of a study released Friday by the U.S. Hispanic Chamber of Commerce and Geoscape, a company that provides demographics data.

The study projects nearly 3.2 million Hispanic-owned businesses in the country in 2013, up from nearly 1.7 million in 2002.

12 dehumidifier brandsrecalled for fire hazard

Twelve brands of dehumidifiers are being recalled because they can overheat, catch fire, and pose burn hazards.

The dehumidifiers were made by Gree Electric Appliances and sold under the brand names Danby, De'Longhi, Fedders, Fellini, Frigidaire, Gree, Kenmore, Norpole, Premiere, Seabreeze, SoleusAir, and SuperClima. They were sold from 2005 until August, 2013.
