Kings Island offers fund-raising incentive
11/30/2013MASON, Ohio — Kings Island amusement park in southwest Ohio said the first night rides on its newest roller coaster will go to people who raise money for a designated children’s charity.
The park in Mason, which is owned by Sandusky-based Cedar Fair LP, said the “Banshee” will be the world’s longest inverted roller coaster when it opens in April. The $24 million project will take riders through 4,124 feet of track and seven inversions at speeds of up to 68 miles per hour.
Kings Island said fans wanting to be among the first night riders can sign up on its Web site for the fund-raiser and must collect at least $100 each for a nonprofit organization called A Kid Again. The group supports children with life-threatening illnesses.
Participating fund-raisers get access to ride the Banshee for a two-hour window April 17.
