The Whirlpool Corp. plant in Clyde, Ohio, will add 80 to 100 jobs over the next three years, the company announced Friday.

Whirlpool said it is moving production of its commercial front-load washing machines from Mexico to Ohio. The machines are for use in laundromats, hospitals, hotels, and other commercial settings.

The Clyde plant, about 40 miles southeast of Toledo, makes all of the residential washing machines Whirlpool sells in the United States. It employs about 3,400 people. At 2.4 million square feet, it is the largest washing machine plant in the world, according to the company.

Production is expected to start in the United States in April.

Whirlpool’s plant in Monterrey will add a new residential washer production line to serve the Mexican market. Staff at that plant are expected to be unchanged.
