The Lucas County Commissioners are adding their voices to the call to raise the minimum wage to $10.10 an hour.

Commissioners Pete Gerken, Carol Contrada, and Tina Skeldon will discuss the issue at 10 a.m. today at a news conference at One Government Center.

The commissioners said they will urge Ohio lawmakers to pass House Bill 502 and urge the U.S. Senate to take actions necessary to raise the minimum wage from $7.95 an hour to $10.10 an hour.

In a statement Sunday, the commissioners said raising the minimum wage would help nearly 1 million Ohioans and give those workers more money to spend on the basics they need.
