Harbor, the largest mental health provider in the Toledo area, announced Thursday that it will merge with Behavioral Connections of Wood County Inc. on July 1.

Harbor offers counseling, psychiatric services, adult day services, vocational programs, wellness education, and employee-assistance programs. Behavioral Connections of Wood County provides treatment for mental health and substance abuse.

Combined, the agencies will have more than 650 employees at 23 locations in Lucas, Wood, and Defiance counties, including residential housing facilities in Perrysburg and Bowling Green.

“The expertise of both organizations are complementary, which allows us to continue to enhance the quality and depth of the care the community will receive,” Harbor CEO John Sheehan said.
