A new downtown master plan developed by the 22nd Century Committee and Downtown Toledo Development Corp has landed Toledo a state award.

The Ohio Chapter of the American Planning Association is recognizing master plan efforts with a 2017 Ohio Planning Award in the category of comprehensive planning/large jurisdiction. The award was presented Thursday at the group's statewide conference in Athens, Ohio.

The master plan was created in 2016 following public meetings and interviews with stakeholders by architects and urban planners.

MKSK, HKS, Development Strategies, Mannik & Smith Group, and Toledo Design Center partnered in the project.
