Sandusky resort begins convention center

SANDUSKY - Kalahari Resort, known for its water park and hotel, said yesterday it has begun construction of a 95,000-square-foot convention center. The resort opened last year.

The $12 million project, expected to be completed in August on State Rte. 250, is attached to its 596-room hotel and its 80,000-square-foot indoor water park.

John Menzer, vice chairman and head of the domestic Wal-Mart stores division, said Wal-Mart is on schedule to meet an announced target of 335 to 370 new U.S. store openings this year after 341 last year.
