Shoppers World is opening a second Toledo store, and is looking to hire about 70 people.

The company's 37th store will be in a former J.C. Penney store in the Southland Shopping Center.

Most of the available positions will be part-time.

Bob Stoldt, the project manager for the new store, said the only way for anyone interested to apply for a job is to pick up an application at the store, 1139 South Byrne Rd.

Applications will be accepted for a couple of more weeks before the interviewing process gets under way. Mr. Stoldt said the store is scheduled to open during the third full week of November.

Shoppers World, headquartered in New York City, opened its first Toledo-area store on Manhattan Boulevard last fall.

The retail chain sells clothing for men, women, and children, as well as home furnishings and housewares.

Mr. Stoldt said the store will occupy 41,000 square feet.

The J.C. Penney store was 85,000 square feet when it closed in 1997. It had opened when the Southland center was built in 1962.
