Columbia Gas to start $1.5M upgrade in Toledo

Columbia Gas of Ohio Inc. said Wednesday it will begin a $1.5 million pipeline upgrade to a Toledo neighborhood as part of its $2 billion plan to upgrade its pipeline system over the next 25 years.

The neighborhood, bounded by Brown Avenue, Nebraska Avenue, Hawley Street, and Campbell Street, will experience some disruption in natural gas service during the project, slated to finished by late fall.

The price of pipeline upgrades, which totals about $24 million in northwest Ohio in 2011, is figured into the gas company’s rates to customers.
