6 cups sliced peeled apples

2/3 cup sugar

3 tablespoons quick-cooking tapioca

1 teaspoon ground cinnamon

1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg

1 cup water

1/3 cup raisins

2 tablespoons margarine or butter

3/4 cup flour

2 tablespoons sugar

1 teaspoon baking powder

1/8 teaspoon salt

1/4 cup margarine or butter

3-5 tablespoons milk

Preheat oven to 375 degrees. Mix apples, 2/3 cup sugar, tapioca, cinnamon, nutmeg, and water in large saucepan. Let stand 5 minutes. Stirring constantly, cook on medium heat until mixture comes to full boil. Pour into deep 2-quart baking dish. Sprinkle with raisins. Dot with 2 tablespoons margarine.

Mix flour, 2 tablespoons sugar, baking powder, and salt in large bowl.

Cut in 1/4 cup margarine until mixture resembles coarse crumbs. Stir in milk until soft dough forms. Drop dough by tablespoons onto hot apple mixture.

Bake 30 to 40 minutes or until topping is golden brown. Serve warm with whipped topping or ice cream, if desired.
