A Toledo police sergeant sustained minor injuries in West Toledo yesterday when his cruiser was struck by a hit-skip driver who ran a stop sign, police said.

Although Sgt. Roque Brown was not hurt seriously, crews had to cut him out of his vehicle, police said.

The officer was northbound on Lewis Avenue just before 3 a.m. when an eastbound vehicle on Slater Street failed to stop at the stop sign and struck the police car, investigators said.

The sergeant, who suffered facial cuts, a possible concussion, and several bruised ribs, was treated at Toledo Hospital.
