PIONEER, Ohio - A North Central High School student was hurt yesterday in a single-car accident near here while on his way to school, according to a Williams County sheriff's deputy.

Zack Skinner, 17, of Montpelier, was admitted to Medical College of Ohio Hospitals, Toledo, in critical condition.

The Skinner youth was eastbound on a straight stretch of Williams County Road R, near County Road 11.50, just after 7 a.m. when the car veered left of center, struck a guardrail, became airborne, and overturned in a ditch, pinning the boy inside the vehicle, Deputy Kim Shaffer said.

The youth was wearing a seat belt and did not appear to have been speeding, the deputy said.
