BOWLING GREEN - A Rossford woman who was behind the wheel when her car struck an oncoming car, killing its driver, will spend 90 days in the Wood County jail.

Julia Dartt, 19, of 822 Lime City Rd., pleaded no contest April 10 to vehicular homicide and was found guilty by Judge Charles Kurfess of Wood County Common Pleas Court.

She was westbound on U.S. 20 west of Bradner Road Sept. 17 when she attempted to pass a tractor-trailer rig and collided with an eastbound car driven by David Beard, 52, of Fremont.

Yesterday, Judge Kurfess sentenced Ms. Dartt to 180 days in jail, but suspended half the term. Because Ms. Dartt is due to give birth Aug. 25, he ordered that she serve 60 days beginning Thursday then serve the remaining 30 days starting Oct. 1.

Judge Kurfess suspended her driver's license for three years, placed her on probation for 31/2 years, ordered her to pay $6,567.90 for Mr. Beard's funeral expenses, and required her to undergo remedial driving instruction.
