6/17/2001

Three people were hurt yesterday, one seriously, in a motorcycle-car accident on State Rt. 2 at Jerusalem Road in Lucas County's Jerusalem Township, the Ohio Highway Patrol said.

Dennis Lewinski, 56, of the 900 block of South Wynn Road in Oregon, the motorcyclist, who was not wearing a helmet, was flown to St. Vincent Mercy Medical Center in Toledo and then transferred to Medical College of Ohio Hospitals, where he was admitted in critical condition.

Candy Dutton, 43, of the 10500 block of Jerusalem Road in Curtice, the driver of the car, and Kaleb Kellogg, 14, of the same address, the only passenger in the car, who were each wearing a seat belt, were treated at St. Charles Mercy Hospital in Oregon.

Ms. Dutton was driving out of a private drive and attempting to turn left onto Route 2 about 9:30 a.m. when Mr. Lewinski's motorcycle, which was eastbound on Route 2, struck the car. Mr. Lewinski was thrown from the motorcycle and came to rest on the pavement. Ms. Dutton was cited for failure to yield from a private drive, troopers at the patrol's Walbridge post said.
