Three people were hurt seriously yesterday when their compact car hit a fire hydrant and a bridge culvert on Mandell Road in Perrysburg Township, the Ohio Highway Patrol said.

The driver, Erin E. Zielinski, 25, of the 100 block of Foredale Avenue, was taken by ambulance to St. Luke's Hospital. Her passengers, Lisa Pollard, 23, and Donald Piatt, 26, both of Myrtle Beach, S.C., were taken by medical helicopter to St. Vincent Mercy Medical Center, troopers at the patrol's Walbridge post said.

All three were listed in serious condition.

Ms. Zielinski was eastbound on Mandell between Simmons and Bates roads at 3 a.m. when her car went off the right side of the road, hitting the hydrant and the culvert, troopers said.
