Foreign speakers sought to aid sex-crime victims

7/13/2001

Volunteers who speak Spanish, Chinese, or Vietnamese are being sought to assist the sexual assault response team operated by the YWCA of Greater Toledo, said Pam VanCamp, director of the Y's Rape Crisis Center.

Those selected can choose from a number of activities, such as answering a hotline from their homes, aiding victims at hospitals, assisting support groups, and counseling victims during the legal process. Volunteers must be 21 or older, pass a background check, commit to assist for six months, and complete a training program. For more information, call 241-7006.
