Assisted-living facility plan back on track in Springfield

10/2/2001

A dormant plan to build a 133-bed assisted-living facility at 7371 West Bancroft St. is back on track after Springfield Township trustees renewed their approval for the project last night.

Country French Developers L.L.C. in Maumee plan to finish the project first started by a Texas-based company in 1999. The company ran into financial difficulty and stopped construction at the 4.3-acre site. The original special-use permit for the property had expired and had to be renewed, to which the trustees unanimously agreed.

The foundation, underground plumbing, and utilities for the building have been finished. Country French officials said they hope to start construction early next year and finish the 53,270-square-foot building 10 to 12 months after that.

Trustees also approved plans submitted by a local developer to tear down a convenience store at 8401 Dorr Street and replace it with a gas station and convenience store. Construction on the 1,986-square-foot building should start in the spring.
